Marcia
Bornhurst Parkes -- a B.M Ithaca College School of Music, M.M and
Ph.D. Eastman School of Music. Member of MENC, NYSSMA, Sigma Alpha Iota,
and the New York State Band Directors Association. Serves as Chair of
the New Horizons Program, directs the New Horizons Bands, the Big Band
and Brasso Profundo. Created Excelsior, a New Horizons summer band
workshop held at Eastman. Taught Instrumental music for 30 years in
Rochester Area schools. Creator of innovative programs including “Heart
to Hearth” chamber music program, the SpenceRPOprt Concert connection
Series and the “Music for Manhattan experience. Served as collaborating
teacher for composer-in-residence programs sponsored by The Commission
Project. Currently serves as consulyant for TCP and is a member of the
RPO Education Committee. Performed as flutist with many Rochester are
community orchestras and with SAIqwins woodwind quintet. Active guest
conductor, clinician and certified NYSSMA woodwind and major
organization adjudicator. Founding member,. Officer and Executive Board
member of NYSBDA. Creator and past administrator of the NYSBDA Regional
Workshop Program, chairman of the first NYSBDA Band Commission Project.
Married to Jonathan Parkes, oboist.

Michael
Leavitt -- Born in Medford, MA. B. M. Eastman School of Music, 1965.
Directs the New Horizons Bands, Basement Brass and Vintage Brass.
Played with the Eastman Wind Ensemble. Band Director, Rush Henrietta
Schools, 1965-1986. M.M. Eastman School of Music, 1968. MBA< RIT, 1986.
Business Admisrator, Avon Central Schools, 1986-2000. Professional
Trumpet Player in Rocheste Area, 1986-present. Played in Monroe County
Parks Band, Shrine and Ringling Bros. Circus Bands, Ice Shows,
Lippizaner Stallions, Broadway show, many church performances and
hundreds of “Trumpet Voluntaries” to encourage brides down the aisle.
Married 40 years to Christine, and have two grown daughters in Boston,
MA and Bronxville, NY, and 4 grandchildren. Avid sailor, golfer, bridge
player, and history buff.

Diego
Garcia -- Now in his fourth season as music director of the Eastman
String Fellowship Orchestra, Diego Garcia has established the ensemble’s
prestigious reputation for virtuosic string playing, artistic
excellence, and consistently high caliber performances. He directs the
New Horizons Full Orchestra. He studied piano, cello performance,
and conducting at the Antonio Maria Valencia Conservatory in his home
country, Columbia. He received a degree in cello performance from the
Manhattan school of music. He has continued hi study of conducting at
the Eastman School of Music. He has also toured extensively as a chamber
musician, recording artist, orchestral player, and soloist.

Janneke Hoogland --
Received a Bachelor of Music Degree from the San Francisco Conservatory
of Music, and a Master of Music Degree in cello performance from the
Eastman School of Music, studying with Steven Doane while a graduate
assistant. She has been a member of the Sacramento Symphony, the
Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra, the Avantine String Quartet, and the
Palo Alto Chamber Orchestra, touring England, Scotland, France, and
Holland. Currently she is assistant principal cello with the Rochester
Chamber Orchestra, a member of the Brevin Piano Trio, the Genesee String
quartet, and serves as substitute cellist of the Rochester Philharmonic
Orchestra. Janneke coaches the New Horizons cello section.

Liz Ristow -- Directs the Green Strings

Nancy
Petterson Strelau -- In addition to conducting the Nazareth College
Symphony Orchestra, Mrs. Strelau is currently Music Director and
Conductor of the Hochstein Youth Symphony Orchestra, Hochstein Virtuosi
Scholarship Chamber Orchestra, and The Greater Rochester Women’s
Philharmonic. She also directs the New Horizons Strings, and teaches
music composition at the Hochstein School of Music and Dance. Mrs.
Strelau received music degrees from Syracuse University and the
University of Miami (Florida).

Brent
Talbot -- Brent directs the New Horizons Chorus. He currently
teaches in the Rochester and Webster schools, and was the head of the
music department at Poly Prep Country Day School in Brooklyn, NY. He is
working on his PhD in Music Education at ESM and is the director of the
Young Children’s Chorus at ECMS. Brent holds a BME from the Indiana
University and a MA in Music Education from ESM. He is a founding
partner and president of MSTRMND, LTD., a media corporation based in New
York City. He is a member of the May Day Group, AERA, AOSA, ACDA, and
MENC. Over the past two years, Brent has conducted research projects
that examine and compare varied settings for and practices of music
learning in the United States, Indonesia, Tanzania. The overall aims of
this program of research are to give voice to marginalized individuals,
and to make music learning practices public, so that learning in one
situation can inform learning in another.

Alan
Woy -- Alan Woy retired from full-time teaching at the Crane School
of Music, SUNY Potsdam in 2004. He currently directs the New Horizon
Clarinet Choir. As professor emeritus at Crane, he currently
teaches adjunct clarinet. As a faculty member he taught studio Clarinet,
woodwind techniques, and conducting. He was also a chamber music coach
and band director, most recently conducting the Crane Wind Ensemble. He
earned his Bachelor of Music in performance from Illinois Wesleyan
University and a DMA from the University of Colorado.
